 Greatness Of Temple:

This is a temple where Lord Perumal is without Thayar-Mother.  Lord appears blessing the people with Abhaya Hastha – the right palm assuring devotees from fear.  It is believed that Sage Agasthya taught the Aditya Hrudaya Mantra to Lord Rama here to conquer Ravana.  Many devotees believe that chanting this mantra would relieve them from headache, fever, debt burdens and enemies.  After chanting the slokas (verses), they also take the Tulasi Theertha offered in the temple.   This event has a place in the Valmiki Ramayana in the Yuddha Kanda.

  Temple History:

There are many Sri Vaishavite temples in the district of Ramanathapuram.  One among them is the ancient Lord Ekantha Srinivasa Perumal temple not visible as it is covered by tall and thick trees.   The portions of the temple, the pillars and Mandaps are in a damaged condition.  Yet it is surprising that the temple had survived rain, summer and other furies of nature till today.  The temple is situated in Tirupullani at a distance of about 8 km from Ramanathapuram  running via Sethukarai (3 km from Sethukarai).  Even those walking this way cannot see the temple as it is hidden by dark Kauvela trees opposite a banyan tree.  This is also known as Chinnakoil meaning a small temple.   The Sethu Bridge was built from here only.  It is also said that Vibhishana, brother of Ravana surrendered to Lord at this spot only.

Special Features:

Miracle Based: There is a marble idol in the temple found from the sea about 80 years ago. The idol shows Perumal holding His discus and conch in His left and right upper hands while it should be in His right and left upper hands according to tradition. The 10 Avatars of Lord Vishnu are sculpted around the idol.
