Prayers

Thanks giving:

Devotees perform abishek to Lord Muruga and offer vastras.

 Greatness Of Temple:

Against the tradition, Mother Mangalambika is on the right of Lord Chandrasekhara with Her right leg on the ground and the left folded and placed on the right, facing north.  There is an Agnikunda before Lord Eka Paada Murthi (Shiva, Vishnu and Brahmma with a green roof above).  For relief from serious sins as Brahmmahati and Sisuhati, people cross jump this Agnikunda-fire pit.  They enter through the green tent (Pachai Pandal), worship Eka Paada Murthi and come out through a special way.  It may be recalled that a Pandya King was relieved of this Brahmmahati sin in Tiruvidaimardur Lord Mahalingaswami temple by worshipping Lord Eka Paada Murthi.  That tradition is followed in this temple.  As all should worship the Kuladevatha first as a rule, there is a shrine for Mother Selva Nayaki.

Lord Dakshinamurthi blesses the devotees sitting under a banyan tree having His Consort on his lap.  People pray to him for education, wisdom, family unity, mental peace, favourable Jupiter aspect for concluding marriage alliance, and other prosperities and happiness in life.  It is the faith of the devotees that Lord Dakshinamurthi under a live banyan tree (not idol tree) is both powerful and merciful granting the boons they seek.

  Temple History:

Kodumaruvu Lord Baladandayuthapani temple is situated in a pleasant green environment.  Lord Muruga is facing west.  Muruga temples are generally are west facing only in places where He played or worshipped Lord Shiva and this west facing temple also has that importance and fame.  The Shiva-Parvathi wedding festival is one a devotee cannot afford to miss.

Special Features:

Miracle Based: Devotees directly perform pujas to deities by placing flowers. No priest. Mother Mangalambica is on the right of Lord Chandrasekhara against the tradition of being at His left. Lord Muruga is facing west as in Palani.
