 General Information:

Uthiram star people are generally good in nature with friends and relatives and are grateful to those who help them.  They love luxuries.  Keep their promises and are pious.  Lord Mangalyeswarar graces facing east and Mother Mangalambikai facing south.  There are shrines for Lord Vinayaka, Mangalya Maharshi, Lords Dakshinamurthi, Pickshadanar, Arthanareeswarar, Muruga with Valli and Deivanai, Chandikeswara, Mother Durga, Nandhi and Navagrahas the nine planets.

Prayers

Besides Uthiram starrers worshipping for relief from adversities they face due to planetary movements, others mainly are seeking wedding boons and family unity.  Devotees pray for relief from leg pains.  Women of Uthiram star pray for the longevity of their husbands.  The aged, driven out by sons pray for safe return to homes.

Thanks giving:

Soon after a wedding alliance is settled, the parties, after praying in their own family deity temples, come here to pray to Mangalya Marshi, place the invitation in his shrine and pray for his blessing for smooth procedure of the function till the end. After marriage, the couples come and pray to Lord gratefully. Any obstacle in the wedding proposals vanishes if the blessing of Lord is sought, according to faith.

 Greatness Of Temple:

This is the choice temple for the Uthiram starrers.  They must take all opportunities to visit and pray in the temple at least on their annual star day.  Those having problems in feet, the aged longing to join their sons again in life who once drove them away and women seeking longevity of their husbands choose this temple to realize their wishes.

  Temple History:

Maharshi Mangalya, born in Uthiram star, was the Acharya in the marriage of Sage Agasthya and Sage Vsishta and Bhairava.  The whole power of his penance was in his fore palms.  He is the authority for all Akshada (rice coated with turmeric being sprayed on couples and while blessing others) angels flying in the air with garlands. The custom of printing wedding invitation now a days with the pictures of these deities came into practice based on this story.  During the marriage events, it is believed that the Rishi prays for the parties in this temple invisibly.   Also, the choice of Panguni Uthiram day for marriages is backed by this story.
